Affinity Group Technology
Reflection Groups and Coxeter Group by James E. Humphreys, In this graduate textbook Professor Humphreys presents a concrete and up-to-date introduction to the theory of Coxeter groups. He assumes that the reader has a good knowledge of algebra, but otherwise the book is self contained. The first part is devoted to establishing concrete examples; the author begins by developing the most important facts about finite reflection groups and related geometry, and showing that such groups have a Coxeter representation. In the next chapter these groups are classified by Coxeter diagrams, and actual realizations of these groups are discussed. Chapter 3 discusses the polynomial invariants of finite reflection groups, and the first part ends with a description of the affine Weyl groups and the way they arise in Lie theory. The second part (which is logically independent of, but motivated by, the first) starts by developing the properties of the Coxeter groups. Chapter 6 shows how earlier examples and others fit into the general classification of Coxeter diagrams. Chapter 7 is based on the very important work of Kazhdan and Lusztig and the last chapter presents a number of miscellaneous topics of a combinatorial nature.
An Introduction to Algebraic Geometry and Algebraic Groups An accessible text introducing algebraic geometry and algebraic groups at advanced undergraduate and early graduate level, this book develops the language of algebraic geometry from scratch and uses it to set up the theory of affine algebraic geometries from first principles. Building on the background material from algebraic geometry and algebraic groups, the text provides an introduction to more advanced and specialised material. An example is the representation theory of finite groups and Lie type. The text covers the conjugacy of borel subgroups and maximal tori, the theory of algebraic groups with a BN-pair, a thorough treatment of Frobenius maps on affine varieties and algebraic groups, zeta functions, and Lefschetz numbers for varieties over finite fields. Experts in the field will enjoy some of the new proofs. The text uses algebraic groups as the main examples, including worked out examples, instructuve exercises, as well as bibliographical and historical remarks.
Affinity group - An affinity group is a small group of activists (usually from 3-20) who work together on direct action. It is a non-hierarchical group, usually made up of trusted friends and other like-minded people. Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group - The Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG) is a working group for developing new technologies designed to allow authors to write and deploy web applications more easily by extending the existing technologies. This is in contrast with the vendor-neutral World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) headed by Tim Berners-Lee, as the working group is vendor-driven, with the greatest contributors being Mozilla Foundation, Opera Software and Apple Computer. Neptune Technology Group - Neptune Technology Group Overview Open Source Technology Group - The Open Source Technology Group (OSTG) describes itself as a "news, collaboration and distribution community for IT and Open Source development, implementation and innovation." OSTG is supported by VA Software and dedicated to the Open Source Initiative.
